Our aim is simple: to provide a safe, welcoming and enjoyable club for everyone. By entering or using Atrium Fitness, members and guests agree to follow these rules, our Terms and Conditions, safety signage and reasonable instructions from the team.
Important: Serious or repeated breaches may result in removal from the premises, suspension or termination of membership. We will act reasonably and consider the circumstances before deciding what action is appropriate.
1. Respect for others
A welcoming environment: Treat staff, members, guests and contractors with courtesy and respect.
Zero tolerance: Verbal or physical abuse, harassment, discrimination, intimidation, threatening behaviour, aggressive conduct and deliberate disruption will not be tolerated.
Resolving concerns: Raise concerns calmly with a member of the team or email [email protected]. Do not confront, film or publicly identify another member.
2. Health and safety
Your health: Exercise within your own capabilities. If you have a medical condition, injury or concern about your ability to exercise, seek appropriate medical advice before using the facilities.
Safe conduct: Follow safety signage and staff instructions. Do not act recklessly, misuse facilities or behave in a way that puts you or anyone else at risk.
Prohibited items: Weapons, imitation weapons and any item carried, displayed or used in a way likely to cause injury, alarm or intimidation are prohibited.
Emergencies and incidents: Report accidents, injuries, hazards, suspicious behaviour and near misses to a member of staff immediately.
Removal: We may require anyone to leave immediately where their conduct appears unsafe, threatening or seriously inappropriate. This may be followed by a formal review.
Liability: Nothing in these rules excludes or limits Atrium Fitness's liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
3. Access, membership and guests
Membership access: Membership is personal to the named member. Do not allow another person to use your membership, access code, app or entry credentials.
Age requirement: Atrium Fitness is for members aged 16 and over. Children under 16 are not permitted in the gym, studios, changing rooms, pool or spa areas unless attending an event specifically authorised by Atrium Fitness.
Guests: Guests may only attend with prior permission and in line with our current Guest Policy. The introducing member must remain on site and ensure their guest understands and follows these rules.
Refusal of entry: We may refuse entry where fees are overdue, membership is suspended, capacity or safety requires it, or these rules have been breached.
4. Clothing, footwear and hygiene
Exercise areas: Wear suitable, clean clothing and footwear appropriate for the activity. Footwear and clothing must not create a safety risk. Tops must be worn in the gym and studios.
Hygiene: Wear clean training clothing, use deodorant where appropriate and wipe down equipment after use with the products provided.
Changing rooms: Respect other people's privacy, leave the area tidy and do not occupy more space than reasonably needed.
5. Personal property and lockers
Gym floor: Bags and large personal items must not be left on the gym floor or in studios where they may create a trip hazard.
Lockers: Lockers are for daily use only. Bring your own padlock and remove all belongings when you leave. Lockers may be cleared at the end of the day.
Belongings: You are responsible for your belongings. Atrium Fitness is not responsible for loss, theft or damage unless caused by our negligence or where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
6. Gym and equipment
Advice: If you are unsure how to use equipment safely, ask a member of the fitness team before using it.
Responsible use: Use equipment correctly, safely and only for its intended purpose. Do not modify, move or attach items to equipment without permission.
Sharing equipment: Be considerate at busy times. Do not unnecessarily occupy equipment while resting, texting or chatting. Allow others to work in between sets where practical.
Weights: Do not deliberately drop weights or allow weight stacks to slam. Return dumbbells, plates, bars, mats and accessories to their proper storage areas, and strip plates from bars after use.
Faults and damage: Stop using damaged or faulty equipment and report it immediately. A member may be charged for reasonable repair or replacement costs where damage is deliberate or reckless.
7. Mobile phones, photography and filming
Calls and audio: Take calls away from exercise areas where possible. Music, videos and speakerphone audio must be played through headphones at a volume that does not disturb others.
Photography and filming: Do not photograph or film another person without their clear, prior permission. Commercial filming requires written management approval.
Strictly phone-free areas: Mobile phones, cameras and recording equipment must not be used in changing rooms or the pool and spa areas.
8. Fitness classes
Booking: Book classes in advance through the Atrium Fitness app, website, by phone or at reception. Booking opens at 7.00am in line with the published booking window.
Arrival: Arrive on time. An instructor may refuse late entry where missing the warm-up creates a safety risk or would disrupt the class.
Cancellation: Cancel as early as possible. Online cancellation is available until six hours before the class. If cancelling later, contact the club so the place can be released, although it may still be recorded as a late cancellation.
Late cancellations and no-shows: Repeated late cancellations or failures to attend are managed through the following strike process:
First strike: a warning is recorded.
Second strike: a further warning is recorded.
Third strike: online class booking is suspended for seven days.
Continued misuse after reinstatement may result in permanent removal of online booking privileges.
Exceptional circumstances: We may waive a strike where there is a genuine exceptional circumstance. This is at our reasonable discretion.
9. Pool, sauna, steam room and spa
Instructions: Follow all poolside signage and staff instructions. The pool has a uniform depth of 1.4 metres and no deep end.
Showering: Shower before entering the pool, jacuzzi, sauna or steam room.
Swimwear and footwear: Wear recognised, appropriate swimwear. Outdoor footwear is not permitted poolside.
Food and drink: Food, alcohol and glass items are prohibited in the pool and spa areas. Use suitable non-glass drinks containers only.
Safety: Running, diving, rough play, breath-holding challenges and any behaviour likely to endanger or distress another person are prohibited.
Sauna and steam room: Do not use oils, lotions, razors or exfoliating products. Sit on a towel, keep sessions to a sensible length and leave immediately if you feel unwell.
Jacuzzi: Follow the displayed capacity and time guidance. Do not tamper with controls, outlets or water-treatment equipment.
10. Smoking, alcohol and drugs
Smoking and vaping: Smoking and vaping are prohibited inside the building and immediately outside the club entrance.
Impairment and illegal drugs: Do not enter or use the club while impaired by alcohol or illegal drugs. Possessing, using or supplying illegal drugs on the premises is prohibited.
11. Commercial activity
Unauthorised business: Personal training, coaching, group instruction, selling goods, soliciting business and commercial photography or filming are prohibited without prior written permission from management.
Promotion: Do not advertise products or services through the club, its noticeboards or its digital spaces without written permission.
12. Car parking
Club car park: The private car park immediately beside and behind the club is reserved for authorised staff and other approved users. It is not available for general member parking.
Alternative parking: Use nearby public car parks, such as Paradise or Waitrose, and park responsibly without obstructing neighbours or access routes.
13. Lost property
Ordinary items: Ordinary lost property will normally be kept for 14 days before being donated, recycled or disposed of.
Valuable or identifiable items: Valuable or identifiable property may be held for longer, returned to an identifiable owner or passed to the police where appropriate.
Immediate disposal: Perishable, opened or unhygienic items, including used toiletries, underwear, swimwear, water bottles and opened food or drink, may be disposed of immediately.
14. CCTV and privacy
CCTV: CCTV operates in relevant public areas for safety, security and the prevention and investigation of incidents. It does not operate in changing rooms or toilets. Personal data is handled in line with our Privacy Policy.
15. Enforcement and changes
Breaches: We may warn, remove, suspend or terminate a member who seriously or repeatedly breaches these rules, threatens safety, behaves abusively or allows another person to use their membership.
Fair process: We will act reasonably and, where appropriate, give the member an opportunity to explain. Refunds will not normally be provided where termination results from the member's serious breach. Any decision will remain subject to our Terms and Conditions and the member's statutory rights.
Authorities: Serious incidents involving suspected criminal activity, abuse or significant property damage may be reported to the police or other appropriate authorities.
Changes: These rules may be reasonably updated from time to time. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate, and the current version will be available on our website.
